Yes, beginners can participate in trail rides or lessons at City Island Stables. All new students, regardless of experience, must start with a half-hour evaluation lesson for safety. Trail rides and lessons are open to all experience levels as long as riders meet the minimum height and age requirements.
Yes, we offer lesson discount packages: 10 half-hour lessons for $450 and 10 one-hour lessons for $700. These packages are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Lessons in packages are for individual use and not interchangeable between different lesson lengths.
To book a lesson, you need to call or visit to schedule your lesson one to seven days in advance. A non-refundable $20 deposit is required to reserve your first lesson and is applied to that lesson. You must provide your name, email, phone number, agree to the terms, and specify the number of participants. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Packages are valid for one year from date of purchase. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy for lessons, otherwise, the lesson will be charged in full.
Yes, we offer a Summer Riding Program for children ages 5-16, which includes horse care, grooming, riding lessons, stable safety, and arts & crafts. The cost is $130 per day or $550 per week, with after care available for $10 per hour up to 6:00 pm.

We offer lessons by appointment for ages 5 and up, including both children and adults. Group lessons are also available, and private lessons can be scheduled by appointment. For groups or families, please contact us directly for specific arrangements.
A trail ride includes about 50 minutes to an hour of riding on your own horse, guided through scenic landscapes, with helmets provided and required. Private trail rides also include a barn tour. For lessons, all new students begin with a half-hour evaluation for safety. What you learn during a lesson is determined by your ability and the instructor's discretion. Helmets are mandatory for all lessons and provided free of charge.
We offer half hour and hour lessons by appointment for ages 5 and up. There are also trail rides, pony rides (for children up to 90 pounds), hand-led horse rides on full-size horses, and riding parties with optional grooming class and barn tour, hayride, or petting zoo. Private trail rides are available by appointment.
Yes, City Island Stables offers both English and Western riding lessons.
Helmets are required for all riders and are provided free of charge. If you prefer, you can purchase a helmet on site. All riders are recommended to wear long pants and closed shoes.
